Chickmo has been on lock down for several months while the inmate underwent... behavior modification. After the chickolgoist Dr. Cluck assured me that they now understand why their behavior made me crazy they are again ready to try to small dose of freedom.
Day passes where reinstated as of Monday. They are allow to be out and roam the land during the warm hours of the day. Free to chase and eat bugs and grass. Things seem to be going well... but I see them... they are all over there in a group quietly clucking to themselves and when I walk up they all scatter. I am certain they are plotting and perhaps scouring the yard for tools with which to make the great escape.
Oddly, we have had to new transfers. Two more inmates for the chain gang. They just showed up... no paper work at all and they go by Artemis and Persephone. They are not merely hens no they are hardened criminals ... they are GUINEAS! Where they came from I can not be sure but they appear to be here to stay.
Peeper remains in her own area, she is not allowed in the general population as there have been attempts on her life by the other inmates. She is instead given a cushy pen and lots of feed. She has not been in on the nefarious activities of the other inmates.
The only other anomaly is that we have an influx of honey bees in Peepers pen... they seem to like her feed. They are gentle and not easily riled so I certainly don't mind them being around. I wonder if they have a hive around here somewhere. I am sure this is something that will come to light at a later day.
Over the course of the winter the inmate's egg production fell off some as was expected. They also became a little thin and would result in a mess when taken into the house and when put in pockets.... All except for Pepper, she apparently lays ROCKS. I wasn't able to get her eggs for several days and when I did I didn't want to eat them so I threw them out into the yard.... they BOUNCED and did not break!
That is my account of the activities from the prison known as Chickmo.
