Super Simple Biscuits

Preheat oven to 425
You will need:
2 cups Self rising flour (see note below)
4 Tbsp Crisco
3/4 cup milk

If you don't have self rising flour you can make your own.... all it is is 2 cups of regular flour, 2 1/2 tsp of baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt. That's it!

You will need:
a large mixing bowl
a Tablespoon measuring spoon IF you have to measure your shortening or butter
a pastry cutter OR a fork OR you can just use your fingers
a biscuit cutter OR you can use a glass or a tin can
a rolling pin
a cookie sheet

put 2 cups of the self rising flour in a bowl

Add your shortening or butter

Now you want to work the shortening or butter into the flour until it is crumbly

Now the milk, I usually eye ball this ... add until it forms a dough ball but I know that people like a more specific amount so I measured it as I added it... it took 12 Tablespoons... which is 3/4 cup! Just be careful and add it a bit at a time you don't want the dough too wet.

This is what you want the dough to look like. The thing about biscuit dough is the more you mess with it the tougher your biscuits will be, so do as little stirring and beating as you can.

Turn it out on a floured surface. I used plain old flour not self rising. You just don't want your dough to stick to the counter top.

Roll it out... don't get it too thin!

Cut out your biscuits... then you can gather up the left over dough and re-roll and cut again.

Spray the cookie sheet and put the cut out biscuits on it. Bake for 10-12 minutes until light brown.

Add a bit of Jelly! Or honey, or ooo apple butter!

OR I like to have them with sausage gravy. LOL I noticed this as I set down to eat that it appears my biscuits have legs! AWESOME!!
